About Pike County Schools
Pike County is a Georgia Public School System located 60 miles south of Atlanta, serving over 3,500 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. Our school system consists of five individual schools, plus a central office. We believe success in the 21st century depends less on what you know and more on what you can do.
If we equip and empower our teachers to design and implement coherent, aligned, rigorous, and highly engaging instruction with a balance of content mastery and application, then students will engage in the learning at high levels as critical thinkers who can solve problems, communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, think creatively, and ultimately, be responsible graduates prepared for employment, enlistment, or enrollment.
At Pike County Schools, we embrace the reality that in the 21st century, student success will ultimately depend less on what they know and more on what they can do. That is, the ability for students to adapt in shifting work environments and excel in fast-paced, diverse communities will be critical to their long-term growth. To create a learning environment to facilitate these goals, we must do the following:
• Seek Excellence
• Take Ownership
• Invest in Others
Develop engaged citizens ready for the workforce, enlistment in the military, or enrollment in higher education through engagement in rigorous learning opportunities, balanced with opportunities to apply their learning to real-world contexts.
Provide an education of excellence that values the needs, interests, and talents of all students.
