Welcome to Pike County Elementary School! It is truly a privilege to serve as principal of such an incredible school community. PCES is a special place because of the students, families, staff, and community members who work together each day to create an environment where children are known, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
My journey in education began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia in 1997. I began teaching in Clayton County at Kemp Elementary and later Hawthorne Elementary before continuing my career in Henry County at Mt. Carmel Elementary. Along the way, I earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia and a Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education in School Improvement at the University of West Georgia.
In 2008, I joined the Pike County Elementary family as a fifth-grade teacher before serving as an Early Intervention reading teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and now principal. Having served our school in so many different roles has given me a deep appreciation for the traditions that make PCES special and the opportunities we have to continue growing together.
My husband, Joe, and I have proudly called Pike County home since 2006. We are blessed with two sons and a wonderful daughter-in-law, Anna, Parker’s wife. Our family shares a passion for healthcare in different ways. Parker is attending veterinary school in Tennessee, Anna is a physician assistant in trauma surgery, and Ashton is a student at the University of Georgia studying Exercise Science while serving as an intern with the Georgia men’s basketball team. He plans to continue his education in graduate school, ultimately pursuing a career in athletic training. We also enjoy spending time together as a family, especially with our grandpups, Olive and Maple.
I believe the elementary years lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, encouraged, and capable of success. Building strong relationships with students, families, and staff is at the heart of my leadership, and I am grateful to partner with our community to provide the very best educational experience for every child.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. We are honored to be part of their journey and look forward to another wonderful year at Pike County Elementary School.
Warmly,
Allison Peabody
Principal
