Greetings, Pike family! It is with great enthusiasm that introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of Pike County Elementary School. I am eager to uphold and build upon the longstanding tradition of excellence that PCES is renowned for!
My journey in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from The University of Georgia in 1997. I started my career in the Clayton County school system, teaching initially at Kemp Elementary and later at Hawthorne Elementary. During my time there, I obtained a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia.
After enriching experiences in Clayton County, I continued my teaching career in Henry County, where I taught first and third grades at Mt. Carmel Elementary. It was during this time that I earned a Specialist’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. In 2008, I was honored to join Pike County Elementary, initially teaching 5th grade ELA before transitioning to a role as an Early Intervention reading teacher. Prior to being appointed as principal, I served as both the instructional coach and assistant principal at PCES.
Beyond the school environment, my husband Joe and I have proudly called Pike County home since 2006. Our two sons, Parker and Ashton, who are both in college, have led us into the phase of empty nesters. Parker recently graduated from Presbyterian College with a degree in Biology and is pursuing veterinary school, while Ashton is studying business at UGA.
My passion lies in nurturing a love for learning in children, empowering them to overcome challenges, and supporting our school community of colleagues and families alike. I am deeply honored to contribute to the nurturing environment at PCES, where our collective goal is to create a school that students genuinely love.
I eagerly anticipate meeting each of you and your families throughout the coming year! Whether you have ideas, resources, or simply a helping hand to offer, please do not hesitate to reach out. Your support and engagement are invaluable as we work together towards educational excellence.
Respectfully,
Allison Peabody
