Principal

Dr. Teal-Phagan began her career in education in 1998 after graduating from Mercer University. She earned a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia College and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus College. She has a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. She also holds both coaching and reading endorsements. 

Dr. Teal-Phagan taught fourth grade, first grade, and was an instructional technologist for the Thomaston-Upson County School System. She was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award as a first grade teacher in 2002.

April began teaching first grade at Pike County Primary School in 2006. She was the “Teacher of the Year” for Pike Primary School and “District Teacher of the Year” for the Pike County School System in 2008. She was the recipient of multiple Southern Rivers Bright Ideas grants as a classroom teacher. After teaching first and second grades, she moved to the position of Instructional Coach at Pike Primary School. She became Assistant Principal of Pike County Primary in 2016, Principal in 2019, and now also serves as the Director of the Pike County Pre-K Program. 

April is married to Rodney Phagan, and they have two sons, Jess and Jacob. Jess is a PE teacher at Taylor County High School and Defensive Coordinator for the Taylor County Vikings football team. Jacob works for Goodman Grading. April and Rodney live in Meansville and enjoy traveling and spending time at the beach.

Assistant Principal

Mandy Cloy is in her twenty-third year in education.  She taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and early intervention before becoming the Instructional Coach and MTSS Coordinator in 2020. She became the Assistant Principal in 2023.

Mandy holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lagrange College. She holds endorsements in tier one leadership, coaching, reading, and dyslexia. She was named Teacher of the Year for Pike County Primary School as well as District Teacher of the Year in 2014.

Her favorite part of her job is being able to work with teachers to find instructional best practices for students. She loves morning carline because she gets to greet students and parents. Mandy is passionate about intervening for students before academic or behavior issues arise.

Mandy is married to Shane who is a small engine mechanic, and they have a daughter and a son. Her daughter, Hannah, is married to John, and is a cosmetologist at Simply Southern in Zebulon. Hannah and John are parents to Mandy’s greatest joy, Caroline June. Mand’y’s son, Jackson, works for Southside Steel in Zebulon and enjoys hunting. Mandy and Shane live on the same land as both sets of their parents. On the weekends, you can find them grilling out in their pavilion and hanging out with friends and loving on Caroline June.
